Sudan’s NCP denies reports of imminent cabinet reshuffle

November 3, 2013 (KHARTOUM) – The ruling National Congress Party (NCP) on Sunday dismissed speculations about a cabinet reshuffle forthcoming as early as Wednesday.

The al-Sudani newspaper said this week that NCP ministers will submit their resignations in order to allow for the new formation to take place that will consist of new faces.

But the NCP political secretary in Khartoum state Omer Basan said today that the start of the parliament’s new session will not allow for a reshuffle as several ministers are scheduled to address the national assembly.

Basan said that the current thinking mode is to allow more time for consultations especially with regards to NCP ministers.

He noted that the dialogue with other political forces is continuing away from the media that will only be revealed after agreements are reached.

This week, the Sudanese 2nd Vice president al-Haj Adam Youssef suggested that the opposition National Umma Party (NUP) and the Popular Congress Party (PCP) will participate in the new government.

But officials in both parties denied any intention to do so.
