SPLM leaders to hold press conference with Machar on Friday
December 5, 2013 (JUBA) – Senior leaders from South Sudan’s governing Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM) are due to hold a press conference in the capital, Juba this Friday.
Members of the SPLM political bureau, including the party’s first deputy chairperson, Riek Machar are expected to chat the ruling party’s future “in the wake of the recent unilateral decisions taken by the party’s chairperson, Salva Kiir Mayardit, dissolving its structures”.
All local and international media houses, according to a statement extended to Sudan Tribune, are invited to attend Friday’s event, which starts from 2:00pm.
“The venue will be confirmed in the morning hours on Friday. For further information, contact James Gatdet Dak, the press secretary of the former vice-president”, it stated.
Organisers of the Friday’s media briefing, however, said the public will be excluded from the event, exclusively for journalists and the concerned party leaders.
The office of the first deputy chairperson further announced that the party leaders will conduct a public rally on Saturday 14 December at Dr. John Garang memorial ground.
