Ugandan rebels attack Southern Sudanese , kill dozens

Joseph_Kony-2.jpgKAPOETA, Southern Sudan, July 20, 2004 (MENA) — The Ugandan rebel group of the Lord Resistance Army scaled up their attacks on the southern Sudanese people in the East Equatorial State, killing dozens of people and looting many property and livestock.

Gangs from the Ugandan rebel army attacked a number of southern Sudanese villages killing tens of its inhabitants and stealing around 2000 cows, said a source from the area.

He said the exact number of casualties is hard to figure out due to the complicity of the area where density of bushes and marshes make it difficult to move.

However, the source said, the rebel army has been caught between a rock and a hard place after being surrounded by the Sudanese army in the north and the Ugandan government forces in the south and has almost run out of its resources and ammunition.
