Last month, the NCP leading figure Amin Hassan Omer said that they would issue a historic reform document in conjunction with the recent changes in the government and the party, affirming that it will enable them sweep the upcoming 2015 elections.

Last December, president Omer Al-Bashir who is also the head of the NCP issued presidential decrees appointing Bakri Hassan Salih as first vice president, Hassabo Abdel-Rahman as vice president, and Ibrahim Ghandour as presidential assistant as well as decrees appointing 26 ministers and state ministers.

The biggest surprise in the reshuffle was the departure of the residential assistant Nafie Ali Nafie from government and the NCP leadership. The cabinet also witnessed the stepping down of Awad Ahmed Al-Jaz, who remained in the government formation since 1989.

The NCP deputy chairman for party affairs, Ibrahim Ghandour, told reporters following the leadership office meeting on Monday that they have concluded discussion on the document, pointing that the committee in charge of the document has submitted its recommendations.

He pointed that the committee was commissioned with developing an implementation matrix for the document’s recommendations and stressed that the party and the government would adopt them and will be held accountable before the people according to it.

Ghandour further said that they don’t seek opposition parties’ participation in the existing government, pointing that their goal is to reach an agreement with all opposition forces on national principles and engage in a dialogue to achieve peace and reconciliation.
