The duo, state house said a statement, mainly discussed the security situation in South Sudan, especially the recent events that occurred after the conflict and uprising in the country.

The meeting, which took place at president’s country home in Rwakitura, also explored matters of mutual interest between the two brotherly countries.

Nyandeng, an advisor to President Salva Kiir, has been critical of the leadership, emerging among those advocating for change within the country’s ruling Sudan Peoples Liberation Movement (SPLM).

Nine politicians currently remain in jail over their alleged involvement in what government says was a failed coup attempt on Kiir’s regime. Also implicated was South Sudan former vice-president, Riek Machar, who denies the accusations.

Over 1,000 people have been killed and nearly 200,000 displaced in the country’s worst-ever outbreak of violence since its July 2011 secession from Sudan.
