SPLM Youth League assure church leaders for rebuild trust in South Sudan
February 13, 2014 (JUBA) – The youth leader of the South Sudan ruling party, Sudan People’s Liberation Movement Youth League (SPLM-YL) have urge various churches in South Sudan to promote peace and to rebuild trust within stakeholders of power in the country.
Akol Paul Kordit, the chairman of Youth League was quoted speaking in the rally at Nyakuren Cultural Centre on Wednesday. The rally was organized by church friendship groups with support from the SPLM youth league with aim to tell church leaders the aftermath of failed coup attempt on December 15, 2013.
He thank church leaders for their hardship role to promote the image of South Sudanese for preaching peace and he also thanks the youth friendship church leaders for their role during South Sudan referendum and in election in 2010.
“this is my first time to speak in front of church congregation – I thank all churches who gather here to hear the messages from us – his church played positive role in South Sudan crisis, church is turn to do advocate for peace and reconciliation – we had got our July 9, 2011 independent through Church prayers – we are the ruling party who fear God.” Said Akol which prompted around of applaud from congregation in the hall.
“we have defeated the rebel in Jesus name” he said “South Sudan still a new country need stability so that development and basic services reach people in their remote residential areas.”
His also condemned the killing of church mothers in Jonglei state which was believed the killing was carryout by rebel loyal to Riek Machar Teny on December 17, 2013 in Bor, the capital of Jonglei State.
“We fear God – we respect human right – and as the ruling party, (SPLM), the people party – we think and we can do to help people of God – I condemned in the strongest term possible they killing of our church mothers in Bor.” Said Kordit “prayer for us to always make a right decision, a right decision that would build you a school, hospital, kill corruption, and to promote trust among us so that South Sudan must remain united apart from her tribe affliction.”
However, Daniel Awet Akot, the former deputy speaker of National parliament who is also the senior member of SPLM political Bureau and a deputy chairman of crisis management committee (CMC) repeat calling for calm and stability to save orphans and widows and the country image from being distort by international community.
“We do not need blood – we need peace – do not quarrel to your brother – do not fight for power struggling of one man interest – nation first and your patriotism above all tribe angle.” Said Akot.
He tell churches congregation seven (7) point whom his described as weakness that require correction in South Sudan. Among those is “1, business without ethic, 2 pleasures without caution, 3 Knowledge without character, 4 technologies without humanity, 5 wealth without sweat, 6 politic without principal and 7, Religious without scarify.”
