France, Sudan to hold joint political meeting in Paris

February 15, 2014 (KHARTOUM) – A two-day joint committee meeting of political consultation between the foreign ministries of Sudan and France will start on Monday in Paris that will address several issues including bilateral relations and regional developments especially in Central African Republic (CAR).

The Sudanese side is headed by the general director of the bilateral relations department at Sudan’s ministry of foreign affairs ambassador Abdel-Mahmoud Abdel-Halim.

Abdel Halim , in a statement to the Sudan News Agency (SUNA), said that the meetings which he described as important in terms of timing and content, will discuss at length the French -Sudanese relations and ways to enhance them.

“It will also address regional issues, especially the situation in the Central African Republic as well as other African issues along with tackling regional and international issues,” the official told SUNA.

The Sudanese side requested from the French at the last meeting of the committee in Khartoum to play a role in resolving Sudan’s foreign debt issue in its capacity as the chairman of the Paris Club .

Sudan also renewed its request to join the International Francophone Organization as an observer.

The French side called for renewing the framework agreement between the two countries in the field of humanitarian organizations that will allow the financing of small projects in the health and humanitarian fields.

They also asked for expansion of humanitarian work outlets in needing states .
