Refugees in Kakuma refugee camp in northern Kenya complained of no enough food ratio and congestion as the major challenges they faced in the camp.
“The camp is congested, no space for us to build our houses in the areas that were formly inhabited by South Sudanese refugees. The new areas given to us by UN are not safe. There is fear of attack or looting by the local residents who are also suffering from hunger, that is why we don’t stay in the new areas”, Chuei Achiek, one of the elders in the camp told Sudan Tribune on Sunday 16 in Kakuma.
Both Nuer and Dinka found themselves mixed up in the camp. They exchanged strange faces as they looked at each other as enemies but found themselves sharing some common facilities within the receptions and the residential areas in the camp.
The influx of South Sudanese refugees was estimated at 1,000 people a day by UN officials at the reception who noted a sharp decrease at the start of February.
