Dau Akoi, the county commissioner described the attack as “quite alarming” saying the the raiders constantly attacked cattle camps in the remote area.

“The raiders attacked one of cattle camps of Ajuong payam. They raided unconfirmed numbers of cattle yesterday at around 4:00 when the cattle were [still] grazing. Two people were killed and three others were injured,” Akoi told Sudan Tribune Monday.

“The injured were evacuated rushed to Panyagoor hospital and will later on be referred to Bor civil hospital,” he added.

Eyewitness, according to the commissioner, saw the raiders allegedly dressed in military uniforms with majority of them holding AK-47 rifles and that the stolen animals were led towards Murle land territories.

Akoi said a similar attack also took place in Kiir-Adhiok cattle camp, during which nearly 400 heads of cattle were confiscated by suspected Murle ethnic tribesmen two weeks ago.

“I belief this raiders are criminals who decided to gain wealth out of such criminal act. I think they are not part of the army headed by David Yauyau who signed cessation of hostilities with the government in Addis Ababa,” the commissioner said.

He however appealed to Pibor county authorities to trace the stolen animals and ensure they were returned to Twic East communities.
