Rebel leader Dr Riak Machar found dead
April 1, 2014 (JUBA) –The previous vice president of South Sudan Dr. Riak Machar who was the rebel leader of SPLM in opposition has been found dead as sources from the SPLA and the white army have been citing.
It’s still unclear what lead to his death at this very moment, but sources from the White Army claim that a sniper had been cited just hours before, but while they were on the search it was too late.
The SPLA spokesman, Col. Philip Aguer said the SPLA “have nothing to do with what has taken place, and urges everyone not to instigate more violence”. He further added that a press conference will be held in Juba.
The guards of the rebel leader believe the shooter was a man they had been tracking who was carrying Dragunov sniper rifle and in plain clothes. One of the guards has been wounded by the sniper bullet, and has been rushed to the nearest clinic.
