Two suspected robbers arrested in E. Equatoria
June 3, 2014 (TORIT) – Authorities in South Sudan’s Eastern Equatoria state have arrested a suspect in connection with last weekend’s ambush on a state government vehicle along the Torit-IKotos road.
Torit county commissioner German Charles Ojok said the suspect was netted by police and military forces that followed his footmarks.
“I arrived on the same day to the scene of the incident and held talks with the elders and the youths. I told them to solider the responsibility and seek ways of getting the suspected criminals whose foot marks entered their village”, said Ojok.
“The elders and youth sat down early morning and they helped identify those criminals who shot the government vehicles and manage to arrest one of them”, he added.
Commissioner Ojok indentified the arrested suspect as Osuru Mulayi while his accomplice, who allegedly escaped leaving behind his gun, as Makario Oholong
“Community elders vowed to search and arrest the rest of the suspects who went hiding into the bush of the villages after committing the sinful act against the innocent driver”, he said.
The commissioner appealed to citizens in the state to be vigilant and report any criminal-related activities in their localities to authorities.
