SPLM launches member registration campaign in Jur River county

July 7, 2014 (WAU) – The governing Sudan people’s Liberation Movement (SPLM) launched a two-month-long membership drive in South Sudan’s Western Bahr el Ghazal state on Monday.
Despite the split of the South Sudan dominated
governing ruling party, in December 2013 following the differences within it leadership’s
structure, in Boarder state Western Bahr el Ghazal on Monday have
launched it two months membership registration training along with
issuing the new membership card.
In Marialbia county more than 300 people lined up to register their membership.
The launching was on Monday mark in some payams in the county
including Kuajieno, Udici, Marialbia, Roc-Roc dong and many other
importance towns in the county.
The SPLM’s Marialbia county chairperson, Santino Manut Akec, urged party supporters to register their membership in preparation for upcoming elections.
Akec said registration would also be conducted house to house due to the rainy season which prevents some members from attending registration centres.
“We need all our party members who are above 18 years all to get registered and work for the unity of our people in the country,” said Akec.
As a county with historical background of [support for the] SPLM party, I urge all people from Jur River county to take advantage of this registration [process],” he added.
He said members with outdated identification cards will need to reregister.
However the party is since last year continues with differences as
breaking away of other members and join SPLM in opposition which is
the branch of the same party, the official said the party’s leadership
would take direct responsibility to pick up challenges facing it and
work to instigate imperative enlargement venture to fulfill its 2010
general election promise.
