Marik Nanga Marik, according to a decree read on state-owned 89 FM radio Thursday, ceased being Lakes state’s information minister effective from 31 July.

The decree did not mention why he was sacked.

The official, appointed in March this year, appeared to have fallen out with the governor on how the latter managed state affairs.

Marik, however, downplayed the matter insisting it was upon the appointing authority in Lakes state to decide on who should serve the people and were mandated to sack them if necessary.

“There is no problem at all. It is policy, anytime you are appointed and at any time you can be changed,” he reportedly told journalists in Rumbek on Thursday.

“I was an MP and I am better to serve people in parliament, more mistakes are being committed and I cannot resign because this is an SPLM base government that requires us all to work,” added the former minister, whose successor was yet to be named.
