N. Bahr el Ghazal caretaker governor appoints new cabinet

October 19, 2014 (JUBA) – The caretaker governor of South Sudan’s Northern Bahr el Ghazal state, Kuel Aguer Kuel, has appointed a new cabinet, ending weeks of intense lobbying.

The government chief whip in the state assembly, Daniel Akol Diing was named parliamentary affairs minister while Angui Diing Diing takes over the youth and sports ministry.

Other new faces in cabinet are Wek Kuch Deng as minister of information, communication and postal services, Angelo Uguak Aron as the minister of physical infrastructure, Achak Deng Nyibek as the minister of education, Luol Mawien Deng as minister of labour as Kenyang Yai for trade and investment.

The caretaker governor retained finance minister, Ayii Bol Agany, health minister, Tong Deng Anei and that of agriculture, Lual Dau Marach.

Also retained were the ministers of local government, Lino Adup Achier, water and rural development, Bona Makuac Mawien and for animal resources, Madhan Anei.

NEW COMMISSIONERS APPOINTED

The commissioner of Aweil North county, Kuol Athuai was replaced with Major Kon Angok. Athuai has now been appointed as the new state advisor on border issues.

Lt. Col Ngor Akok Ngor was appointed the new commissioner of Aweil East county, succeeding Awet Kiir Awet. Also dropped was Jel Mangok, the Aweil South commissioner.

William Ajongo Deng Ugnuech became the new county commissioner for Aweil Center while his Aweil West county counterpart, Garang Kuach Ariath retained his position.
