Jonglei budget due to be presented on Wednesday

October 21, 2014 (BOR) – The finance minister of South Sudan’s Jonglei state is expected to present its draft budget for deliberations by MPs on Wednesday.

Dano Obongo said an increase of more than 65 million was made in the 324 million South Sudanese pound (SSP) budget, with security and infrastructure taking most of it.

“It provides service delivery to our people and also security. We are going the give 50 per cent housing allowances to our employees. We are first every state in South Sudan to implement this,” said Dano.

The big part of the security budget, for instance, security along the Bor-Juba road is being supported by Jonglei government, he added.

Several lawmakers told Sudan Tribune that they expect the budget to be passed without delays.
