N. Bahr el Ghazal assembly speaker sworn in
December 4, 2014 (JUBA) – The new speaker of South Sudan’s Northern Bahr el Ghazal state assembly, Isaac Makau Ayok was on Wednesday sworn in.
The caretaker governor, Kuel Aguer Kuel and some of his ministers witnessed the event.
After taking oath, Ayok started consultation with members to consolidate his grip on power. He appointed a new group of loyalists, including several female MPs into parliamentary leadership.
Also present was Monica Achol William, the former speaker who welcomed the assembly’s move to appoint Ayok as her successor.
The same members appointed me into office and were free to make any decision, if they felt it was right to make changes, said Achol.
