Sudan targeted by hostile campaign to conceal truth: Sudanese president
KHARTOUM, Aug 05, 2004 (SUNA) — President of the Republic, Gen. Omer Al-Bashir, affirmed that Sudan is being targeted by a fierce and hostile campaign seeking at blacking out the truth and justifying interventions in Sudan.
Addressing the 14th national labour day at the Friendship Hall here Thursday, President Al-Bashir revealed that sedition is not only comes from Darfur, but also from Eastern Sudan, where forces of evil allied to threatening highways as well as terrorizing innocent citizens. In this line, President Al-Bashir called on the people to be on alert in order to ward off the organized anti-Sudan campaign.
As for the problem of Darfur, the President explained that it is a traditional conflict over resources, saying that Darfur’s shares in development and services are bigger than the other states.
The ill-intentioned circles used their fabrications of marginalization, ethnic cleansing, genocide, rape, to overstep all local and regional frameworks and bring the issue to the corridors of the UN, claiming that the problem of Darfur is the worst humanitarian crisis in the world in order to pass on secret agenda, President Al-Bashir cited.
Does the Western world concern about issues of Sudan more than the Sudanese people themselves do? Did the Western forces provide credible justifications for the war they waged in the name of human rights, combating terrorism and dismantling weapons of mass destruction? President Al-Bashir asked.
The President affirmed that the concern of the government with the issue of Darfur is based on national, religious, moral and consititional responsilities rather than being motivated by intimidation and promises.
He affirmed that the situations inside the camps of the displaced people in Darfur are improving and better than situations in some villages and cities despite scarcity of humanitarian assistance, stressing determination to overcome the crisis of Darfur.
President Al-Bashir urged the Sudanese workers to assist in repatriation of IDP and rehabilitating the social fabric in Darfur.
