Sudan’s Bashir to deliver important speech on Independence Day anniversary
December 29, 2014 (KHARTOUM) – The Sudanese president, Omer Hassan al-Bashir will address the nation on Wednesday evening on the occasion of Sudan’s 59th independence day.
The General Secretariat of Sudan’s Council of Ministers has congratulated the Sudanese people on the independence anniversary, announcing Thursday as an official holiday.
The annual presidential celebration will take place at the presidential palace in Khartoum with the participation of the several national figures, political leaders, civil society organizations, and foreign diplomatic missions accredited to Sudan.
Meanwhile, Bashir received on Monday a congratulatory message on the occasion of the 59th independence anniversary from his Chinese counterpart, Xi Jinping, underscoring his keenness to promote Sudanese-Chinese ties in all spheres.
The Chinese leader said in his message that Sudan saw remarkable achievements under Bashir’s leadership including promotion of economic development, political stability and improving standard of living, expressing sincere hope that Sudan accomplishes new achievements in the future.
He asserted his desire to promote bilateral relations and make joint efforts to enhance political trust and deepen mutual cooperation in all fields.
Speaking at the graduation ceremony of a new promotion of the Joint Command and Staff College last week, Bashir reiterated the government willingness to continue negotiations with rebel groups in Darfur, South Kordofan and Blue Nile to stop the bloodshed and promote stability and social peace.
