Sudanese parliament sends corruption law back to cabinet
January 18, 2015 (KHARTOUM) – The speaker of the Sudanese Parliament, al-Fatih Izz al-Din, announced that the legislative body sent back the draft bill of the Unlawful Enrichment Act to the cabinet for further study.
He attributed the move to the link between this law and financial and budgetary matters.
“It is imperative that the Unlawful Enrichment Act pass through the Council of Ministers,” he said.
In a related issue, the speaker said that the parliament postponed discussion of some of the laws such as civil service and social security laws and deferred it to the next parliamentary session for further study and consultation with relevant bodies.
He stressed the importance of amending these laws, adding that “despite the importance of these laws, but they will be deferred”.
The head of the parliament said that remaining laws will be adopted before the end of the current session.
