Warrap minister overturns official’s suspension

February 5, 2015 (JUBA) – The minister for physical infrastructure in South Sudan’s Warrap state has reversed an administrative decision in which he suspended the ministry’s director general.

Mayar Deng Mayar’s suspension of Stephen Adhik caused lots of commotion among his allies.

A member of the state assembly said reinstatement of the director general followed recommendations from a parliamentary committee formed to investigate the matter.

“The suspended official has been reinstated to his previous position. The reinstatement comes after a parliamentary resolution that asked the governor to order unconditional lifting of the suspension after parliamentary committee found that the suspension to be unprocedural”, Ariech Ayar Ariec told Sudan Tribune on Thursday.

The recommendation from lawmakers reportedly took effect from 3 February, 2015.
