African security experts to discuss economic sanctions in Khartoum
March 21, 2015 (KHARTOUM) – Experts of the Committee of Intelligence and Security Services of Africa (CISSA) will meet in Khartoum on Monday to discuss the impact of economic sanctions on national security.
The director of information at Sudan’s National Intelligence and Security Services (NISS) said in press statements on Saturday the workshop will discuss the negative repercussions of economic sanctions on the growing phenomena of terrorism, human trafficking, organised crime and drugs trade besides the psychological problems resulting from unemployment, wars and cost of living pressures.
He added the workshop will further discuss the negative effects of economic sanctions on development, services, employment and agricultural activities.
Also will be presented papers pertaining to the concept and objectives of the economic sanctions and its security, economic and social effects on the various services, development, health and education sectors besides the national security of the African countries.
The Sudanese presidency said the vice-president, Hassabo Mohamed Abdel-Rahman, will address the opening session of the workshop which will be held over two days.
Sudan is on the US list of countries supporting terrorism since 1993 and also subjected to economic sanctions since 1997.
