Unity state youth nominate 10 new leaders

March 31, 2015 (JUBA) – Members of the youth union from South Sudan’s Unity state have nominated 10 interim leaders led by Makuei Ruot Gang to steer the association.

Gang said the union would focus on development programs and ensure youth from all nine counties participate in nation-building initiatives.

“Our aims are to encourage educational, cultural heritage and to preserve human rights with long fundamental freedom,” he said.

The need to tackle unemployment, Gang added, will be at the forefront of their new mandate as leader of the newly-formed union.

“We are going to work and address emerging social and ethical challenges, culture of peace building inclusiveness of knowledge on the society through rightful information disseminations,” he said.

“The youth organisation shall work to educate youths about danger of HIV /Aids and will help to promote environmental on economic stability and agriculture production,” added Gang.

He did not, however, disclose the source of funds to run the union’s activities.

Gabriel Yik Manyuel was nominated deputy chairman, Justice, Gabriel Gatkuoth Tut as secretary general and Guet Daniel Riek as the association speaker, among others.
