Saudi Arabia rejects any threat of military intervetion in Sudan

JEDDAH, Aug 09, 2004 (KUNA) — Saudi Arabia has rejected on Monday any military intervention in the Darfur provonce or imposition of sanctions on the Sudan.

This came during the Cabinet meeting chaired today by the Saudi Crown Prince Depouty Premier and Chief of the National Guards Abdallah bin Abdrelaziz.

THe cabinet rejected any threat of military intervention in the region or imposition of any sanctions on the Sudan.

It called on the world community to give enough and appropriate time to the Sudanese government to implement its obligations according to its agreement with the United Nations.

Moreover, the Cabinet welcomed the announcement on the resumption of negotiations between the concerned Sudanese parties

The cabinet welcomed the statement of the Arab foreign ministers on the developments in Sudan’s Darfur region and welcomed the steps taken by the Sudanese government to fulfill its obligations in accordance with the agreement signed with the United Nations Secretary General on the settlement of the crisis in the region.
