Over 300,000 SSP needed to revamp burnt hospital
April 13, 2015 (BOR) – More than 300,000 South Sudanese pounds is needed to rebuild a health facility burnt in Jonglei’s Twic East county last month, an official said.
Dau Akoi, the Twic East commissioner said they needed to bring the required materials before the rainy seasons, but were still stuck due to lack of funds.
“We have no money to rebuild the hospital. If there is funding we can start bring in the materials before we are cut off from Bor by rain,” the commissioner said on Monday.
Dau said his office lacked furniture, which also needed funds.
“Even the commissioner’s office, which I was building here has not finished, furniture for the office will not be purchased due to lack of money. So we need the Twic East community from around the world to help us by contributing some money,” he said.
The only-existing hospital in the county caught fire last month as paraffin was being put into an Extended Program Immunization (EPI) fridge.
