E. Equatoria bans nightclubs after deadly grenade attack
April 20, 2015 (JUBA) – The government of South Sudan’s Eastern Equatoria state has banned night club activities after a grenade injured six people in the capital, Torit.
Torit county commissioner German Charles Ojok said the ban is aimed at saving lives as officials investigate Saturday night’s incident in one of the nightclubs.
“For a while, there will be no occasion to take place in Torit town at night until we see that the security improved,” Ojok said by phone from Torit on Monday.
According to the state information minister, at least 30 others sustained injuries.
“Those critically injured had to be flown to Juba using UNMISS [United Nations Mission in South Sudan] helicopter,” said Mark Okio, adding that no-one had been arrested in connection with the grenade attack.
