The graduation event was attended by the national security minister Gen. Issac Mamur Mete and the state governor, Rizik Zakaria Hassan.

The training took place in Mapel payam located in Jur River county.

These, officials said, were the third batch of national security officers to be graduated in Mapel since the country’s 9 July independence.

“The officers will help the country in combating any external or internal aggression, including the issue of South Sudan’s undemarcated border,” said Mamur.

The minister urged the new officers to help government in its concerted effort to maintain peace and stability in the young nation, but warned that the newly passed national security law would not tolerate of favour any officer who contravenes them.

“Your intelligence and creative mindful to monitor your nation is a protection of your national constitution rather than turning your intelligence into criminality,” said Mamur.

Governor Hassan, on the other hand, reminded the new recruits that lives and properties of the country’s citizens depended on their work.

Akol Kor Kuic, the director general for national security services said the country had embarked on formation of a national security structure that is devoid of tribalism, corruption but rather an institution that embraces discipline and hard work.

The new officers, officials told Sudan Tribune, are expected to be deployed within a week.

Meanwhile, 84 of the 3007 newly passed national security officers, were female.
