W. Bahr el Ghazal condemns killing of paramount chief
May 12, 2015 (WAU) – The government of Western Bahr el Ghazal state has strongly condemned the killing of Wau county paramount chief, declaring three days of mourning.
Angelo Bagari and his wife were shot dead by unknown gunmen on Monday.
“The state government has paid tribune and condolences to the chief’s family who lost their lives in such brutality action by unknown gunmen,” partly read a statement from the state information minister, Mary Karlino.
“The state government would like to tell the family of the chief in particular and the entire people of Western Bahr el Ghazal that security agencies are on alert of an inquiry to detect the killers,” it added.
The state police commissioner, Abraham Manyuat told Sudan Tribune police were taking positive measures to ensure the killers were arrested to ensure they faced the law.
The incident came a week after Bagari, 76, took oath as the county’s paramount chief.
