Western Bahr el Ghazal state launches website
July 8, 2015 (WAU) – A government website (www.wbgstate.net) was on Wednesday officially launched in South Sudan’s Western Bahr el Ghazal state capital, Wau.
The new website, officials said, will enable those in the diaspora access information.
“The plan to have a website was initiated in 2011, but was delayed due to technical issues. It is very important to have our own website as Western Bahr el Ghazal state government simply to publicly display our daily activities online to our people outside the country,” the state deputy governor, Zakariah Joseph Garang told reporters.
“We have many investors coming to Western Bahr el Ghazal and with our website, it’s easy for them to understand the part of investment that our state requires,” he added.
Garang said it was a government policy to provide citizens with information.
The deputy governor said the website will be used to restore the historical and cultural diversity of the population from the state.
“The website will help in correcting rumours spread against the state and will update the public with accurate information,” further explained Garang.
The state assembly speaker, Mario Nyibang said the launch of the website was part of the state information technology advancement.
He urged its administrators to ensure that the new website was regularly updated.
Meanwhile the state director for information, culture and communication, David John called on ministries, counties and payams to avail information for the website.
