Grenade explosion in Warrap kills two, injures 10 others
July 13, 2015 (KUACJOK) – A hand grenade explosion in South Sudan’s Warrap state on Saturday left two people dead while 10 others were seriously injured, authorities said.
An eyewitness said the attacker entered a shop and pretended to be buying goods, before detonating the hand device in front of the shop.
“The wounded survivors included four teenagers and six foreigners from Sudan,” the eyewitness told Sudan Tribune Monday.
The mayor of Kuacjok municipal council, Ajiek Ajiek said the wounded were rushed to Western Bahr el Ghazal hospital for treatment.
“The unidentified bomber first threatened the shop keeper for no reason before he detonated the device,” said Ajiek.
The mayor further revealed that the suicide bomber bought a cigarette lighter from the shop and began threatening the shop keeper that he wants to die with him and immediately started detonating the grenade to the people in front of the shop.
“The town authorities are still investigating the incident, including a follow up on where the guy [attacker came from,” stressed Ajiek.
In April, authorities in South Sudan’s Eastern Equatoria banned all night club activities after a grenade exploded, injuring six people in the capital, Torit.
