South Sudan rebel-appointed governor names cabinet

July 21, 2015 (BENTIU) – The rebel-appointed governor of Lich state in South Sudan, Ruai Kuol Jal has named his cabinet, comprising his deputy, county commissioners, advisors and chairpersons of state commissions.

The appointment came on the eve of resumption of talks between South Sudan’s two main warring factions, being mediated under the International Authority on Development (IGAD)-Plus arrangement.

The official spokesperson for the governor, Weirial Puok Baluang, said the new changes would enable citizens access better services through the newly appointed official s.

“The formation of state secretaries will help governor for collective decision making. The appointments of state government executives shall help us to coordinate and work together,” Baluang told Sudan Tribune by phone.

The deputy governor, Joseph Nhial Ruach will also double as the secretary for local government and law enforcement in Lich state.

A number of advisors, commissioners and secretaries made up the list. The rebel appointed governor Kuol also chose Anthony Koah Char as state security advisor.
