UK’s new ambassador to Khartoum formally assumes post
August 19, 2015 (KHARTOUM) – The British embassy in Khartoum announced on Wednesday the arrival of its new ambassador Michael Aron to assume his post.
Aron worked as an English teacher in north Sudan town of Ed-Damer 32 years ago before joining the Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO) in 1984.
“I am delighted to be returning to Sudan after 30 years. I have very fond memories of the charm, hospitality and generosity of the Sudanese people I met and worked with and I look forward to renewing friendships, developing new relationships and working with all parties to help Sudan overcome the challenges it faces” he said in a statement distributed to the press.
Aron worked in many roles at FCO including being an ambassador in Kuwait, Iraq and most recently Libya.
