W. Bahr el state releases 2015 secondary school results

August 24, 2015 (WAU) – This year’s secondary school results in South Sudan’s Western Bahr el Ghazal state have been released, with John Paul secondary school on top.

Of the 2,715 students who sat for exams, 2,111 of them passed. At least 77.8% of the students passed compared to last year’s 68.2%.

Also, total of1, 802 students boys sat for the exams, of which 1,406 passed, while 794 of the 913 girls who did the exams were successful.

Only three government schools in Western Bahr el Ghazal state featured in the top 10.

Overall, however, the state registered an over 80% improvement in this year’s exams.

Education officials in the state attributed high numbers in school enrolments to the political stability in Western Bahr el Ghazal state.

“There is a relative improvement in the results this year due to the much efforts exerted by both teachers, parents and students,” Adel Athanasio, a state education official said.

He said boys, at the national level, performed better than their female counterparts.

Meanwhile, Emmanuel Mayen Jeremiah from John Paul secondary school came top with 87% followed by Joseph Makok Madol (John Paul) with 86.5%. Others were Samuel Manyuon Chanuong (Nukhba Teachers Union) with 86.1%, James Angok Bar (John Paul) 86.1%, Athian Majok Anei (John Paul) 85.5%, Peter Ayom Madut Adhieu (Bahr el Ghazal) 85.1%, Maiuac David Maiuac (Kiir Foundation) 84.8%, Irneo Dut Nyibang (Bussere National), 84.2%, Jane Lucio Baden (John Paul) 83.8% and Moses Ring (Standard) 83.6%.
