Warrap governor appoints new ministers after dissolving cabinet
September 26, 2015 (JUBA) – The caretaker governor of South Sudan’s Warrap state, Akec Tong Aleu has dissolved the entire cabinet put in place by his predecessor Nyandeng Malek, whom president Salva Kiir removed from the position last month.
Akec, the state-owned SSTV, announced Friday evening, appointed Ariech Mayar Ariech, a critic of the former governor, as the new minister for information.
A lawmaker representing Kuac South constituency in Gogrial West county in the state, Ariech was deputy head of parliament’s committee for information and public relations.
James Machok Deng, another critic of Malek, was appointed minister for investment, while ex-parliamentary affairs minister, Achol Chier Rehan, heads the education ministry.
The new cabinet also comprises of Ater Kuei Thiep (minister for culture, youth and sports), Sabino Makana Akol (minister of physical infrastructure), Santino Akot Abiem (minister of gender and social development), Maniem Bol Malek (minister of cooperatives and rural development), Kon Manyiel Kuol (minister of finance), Atek Monydhar Atek (minister for local government), James Gabriel Khamis (minister of agriculture, forestry and irrigation), Paul Gal Atem (minister of public service and human resource development) and Ajuet Mawiir Rehan (ministry for animal resources).

Meanwhile, the caretaker governor appointed Alessio Makuc Makuc Ngongdit, who was secretary general of South Sudan’s ruling party (SPLM) branch in Warrap, as the new political advisor. Also elevated to advisory positions were Andrew Kuac Mayol (economy), Chan Achuil Agany (peace), Joseph Buong Anyar (security), Madut Malieu Akuien (culture, youth and sport) while Elia Deng Majok will handle cooperative affairs.
NEW COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
The caretaker governor also appointed Joseph Mayom Cikom Ciwilin as the Tonj South county commissioner, replacing William Wol Mayom as kuanynin Kuanynin Agoth takes over from Makuc Aru Luac as the commissioner of Gogrial West county.
Sigin Ayii Kuot becomes the commissioner for Tonj North county, replacing Marko Awuoc Kuot as Biar Biar Mawien takes over Tonj East county from Madhol Chol Thuc.
Those sacked by the newly-appointed governor were Achuil Tito Madut (local government), Joseph Buong Anyar (public service and human resource development), Andrea Aguer Ariik,(finance, commerce and economic planning), Paul Dhel Gum (information), Majok Bol Kur (agriculture, forestry, cooperatives), Mayar Deng Mayar (physical infrastructure), Victoria Tito Biimo (gender and social development), Lual Longar Adhal (animal resources and fisheries) and Luka Lual Madhang (youth and sports).
