S. Sudanese soldier kills three in N. Bahr el Ghazal state

October 28, 2015 (WAU) – A South Sudanese soldier attacked to the military’s third division in South Sudan’s Northern Bahr el Ghazal state has been summoned by police after he shot dead three people at Aweil Center on Tuesday.

“The soldier was summoned by the police after a case was filed against him in a relation to the money loan of 1,500 pounds [SSP] he borrowed from his colleague and failed at the promised point to refund the money,” William Ajonga, the commissioner of Aweil centre told Sudan Tribune.

“The two parties were locked in a cycle of disagreement as the time of returning money. In the end, the owner of the money decided to advance to case to the law but the soldier was unhappy with the decision,” he added.

The commissioner, however, said the money was borrowed from unidentified woman.

“After shooting at the woman, the killer turned and fired bullets at those policemen who were holding the warrant of arrest [against him], ” said Ajonga, adding that the killer was currently being held at Wun-Yiir military detention base awaiting trial.

“However, relatives of the deceased were trying to take the law into their hands, the authority is doing enough to make sure that the culprit face law within the shortage time, he is now under critical investigation and will be transferred to Aweil police headquarter to face court of law,” he assured.
