Sudanese cabinet approves amendments of extradition treaty with Nigeria
November 5, 2015 (KHARTOUM) – The Sudanese cabinet signed off on Thursday on a new legal cooperation treaty with Nigeria on extradition and other legal matters.
“The agreement aims at [sealing] cooperation between the two countries in the investigation and prosecution of criminal cases and extradition as well as handling evidence and interrogation in a manner that is not prejudicial to national sovereignty and security and public interests,” the cabinet spokesman Omer Mohamed Saleh told reporters.
Sudan has previously asked for amending the extradition agreement with Nigeria before handing over one of the Boko Haram suspects by the name of Aminu Sadiq Ogwuche who is accused of blowing up a bus station in Abuja in 2014.
It was announced this week that Ogwuche was handed over to Nigeria but no further details were provided.
