Bashir heads to Saudi Arabia & South Sudan next week

November 8, 2015 (KHARTOUM) – The Sudanese President Omer Hassan al-Bashir will travel to Juba next Sunday to join the signing ceremony of the security agreement between Southern Sudanese rivals that will also mark the launching of the transitional period provided for in Addis Ababa peace agreement between the two sides, according to senior diplomatic sources speaking to Sudan Tribune on Sunday.

Before heading to Juba, the Sudanese president will fly on Tuesday to Saudi Arabia for the second time in a week to participate in the Summit of South American-Arab Countries that will discuss several issues such as terrorism and climate change.

The Foreign Ministry spokesman Ali al-Sadiq told reporters that the minister Ibrahim Ghandour will leave on Sunday evening to Riyadh to participate in the summit meetings at the foreign ministers level to discuss draft resolution with the 12 countries from Latin America and 22 Arab countries.

Afterwards, Ghandour will lead Sudan delegation to the European – African summit hosted by Malta to discuss the fight against illegal immigration and human trafficking.

The gathering of more than 50 leaders from both continents on Tuesday and Wednesday will see a European call on Africa to take back more people classed as economic migrants and not refugees from war.

In return, Europe will offer development funds to African countries.
