In the statement signed by the youth leadership, Lt. Gen. Awad Juma Aman, Mohamed Issa Ngano and Col. Kamil Wana Uraj were named as the three candidates for the post of Lol state governor.

Kamil Wana Uraj worked as Western Bahr el Ghazal state SPLM ruling party state secretary in 2008 to 2012 before he was pointed as state government advisor on political affairs.

The Lol state youth committee after wider consultations with community leaders and members of parliament from the three counties namely, Awiel North, Awiel West and Raga that formed Lol state had conducted a thanksgiving and congratulatory ceremony early this month to congratulate and thank the president for creating 28 new states.

“We would like to ensure that we stand beside with your journey the president of South Sudan in implementing this historical move,” said the statement.

Furthermore, the communities of three counties have an opinion that the first governor of the new state shall come from Raja town.

However, the community leadership of Raja county earlier issued a strong worded statement rejecting being annexed to the new Lol state of predominant Dinka ethnic group and warned of tribal conflict unless the decision was reversed.

According to the order issued by president Salva Kiir on 2 October, he annexed the minority community of Raja to be part of the largely Dinka dominated new Lol state which was curved from the current Northern Bahr el Ghazal state.
