A man was killed Sunday by a gunman in Rumbek town in what officials described as a revenge after his son allegedly died in the deceased’s hands.

The suspect was reportedly arrested from an undisclosed location in the state.

Lakes state security advisor, Marial Amuom Malek confirmed the incident.

“It was a revenge case – a person whose son was killed some months back came and meets with the father of the young man who killed his son and without fear he shot the man to death. That’s happened and immediately he was arrested and now he is under investigation,” Malek told Sudan Tribune Monday.

In separate clashes, two people were killed and two others sustained injuries in Rumbek East county. One person reportedly died in a cattle camp and the other in Cueicok village.

The clashes erupted between Gony and Dhei sections in what the state government suspected to be part of a revenge cycle. The attacks were halted by state authorities.

According to Malek, the clashes purely erupted due to misunderstandings between the the two communities of Dhei and the Gony of Lakes state.

“It was a misunderstanding between Gony and Dhei – I can tell you two people were wounded and two others were killed in the different clashes, one in the cattle camp, one was killed at home yesterday [Sunday] morning, but shortly the government intervened and separated the fight,” further said the security advisor.

The Lakes state capital has been faced with unrests and inter-communal violence amidst calls for the caretaker governor’s resignation from state intellectual, chiefs and activists.
