Darfur’s NJEM leader joins Sudan dialogue conference
December 20, 2015 (KHARTOUM) – The chairperson of the Darfuri New Justice And Equality Movement(N JEM) Mansour Arbab Younis is due in Khartoum Monday for talks with President Omer al-Bashir and to join the ongoing National Dialogue Conference.
The Movement’s leaders had set the extension of the ceasefire in Darfur, the scraping of death penalties ruled against elements from Darfur’s rebel movements , the publication of lists of the Movement’s fighters taken prisoners in the Nakhara battle as well as hosting the Movement’s delegation to the dialogue as preconditions to join the talks.
The NJEM’s General-Secretary Huthayfa Mohi Eddeen told Sudan Tribune that chairman Younis will arrive Khartoum Monday to confer with Omer al-Bashir on the precondition of the extension of the ceasefire. ”This is the only pending issue and it will be discussed between Bashir and Younis,’’ he said.
He said no date has been fixed for the Bashir-Younis meeting ” but it will most probably take place before the weekend’’.
The National Dialogue Conference took off on October 10 .It was boycotted by the major political and armed opposition forces.
Younis will be accompanied by the Movement’s deputy foreign affairs secretary Yasin Haroun, humanitarian affairs officer Mohamed Ali Hmmad, commander Salah Mohamed Eisa, commander Mohamed Ali Siyam and Commander Adam Abdallah Kasala.
Mohi Eddeen has further confirmed that the government had “dealt” with all their preconditions .”The two sides have managed to reach reasonable understandings, ’’ he said.
Earlier this month, the Sudan Liberation Movement (the Second Revolution), led by Abul Gasim Imam, and the Sudan Liberation Movement – Justice (SLMJ) of Taher Hajer have also decided to join the National Dialogue Conference .
The leaders of the two groups said they they would not return to the country unless they sign a peace agreement with the government.
However, they attended the opening session of the dialogue conference last October but they left the country on the plane of the Chadian leader Idriss Deby who convinced them to take part in the event.
