Chol Tong Mayay, a former Lakes state governor was in Kampala as chief guest at a student’s and community event organised on current situation in the capital, Rumbek.

Chol, who was flanked by state member of parliament, Vickey Deng Monydit applauded the appointment and urged the youth to cooperate with the newly appointed governor.

“We need to work for peace and stability of South Sudan – Rumbek must to restore in glory of kindness. We are tired of hearing bad news of death daily – youth and officials including traditional leaders of Rumbek have to rebuild confident and work together for the welfare of Rumbek people”, said the formerly-elected governor of Lakes state.

Lakes state has experienced a cycle of revenge killings and highway attacks since the appointment of former caretaker governor Maj-Gen Matur Chut Dhuol in January 2012.
