In a statement issued Monday, SPLM-N spokesperson Arnu Ngutulu Lodi said their fighters had repulsed an attack from the government forces boarding 13 vehicles in the area of Torda, Baw county.

“The enemy forces were dispersed after a battle that continued from 6 am to 1 pm on Saturday,” Lodi added.

He said their troops chased the government force down to Khor Maganza, 45 km South of Ed-Damazin, capital of the Blue Nile State.

He claimed they killed 13 army soldiers, destroyed three vehicles and captured three RPG 7 rocket launchers, three machine guns and ten pcs of AKM rifles.

The Sudan Armed Forces spokesperson was not reachable for comment.

Lodi said there were no casualties on their side.

He said the SPLM-N fighters were on the alert for army moves and will deal with them firmly.

Last October, the two warring parties in the Blue Nile and South Kordofan states announced an unilateral truce but the fighting resumed after the failure of the peace talks by the end of November.
