South Sudanese opposition faction appoints head of training body
January 9, 2016 (ADDIS ABABA) – Peter Adwok Nyaba, a veteran politician and university professor, has been appointed by the leadership of the opposition faction (SPLM-IO) as chairman of national committee for training and research.
The appointment letter seen by Sudan Tribune and signed by the chairman and commander-in-chief, Riek Machar, put the former national minister of higher education, science and technology in charge of the national institution for training and research in the opposition faction.
Nyaba previously served as the head of committee for development of the SPLM basic documents in the opposition group.
In June 2014 the former senior official in the South Sudan’s ruling party resigned from the SPLM, accusing President, Salva Kiir, of “failure” and a “lack of vision” in governing the country.
