Former Wau town mayor welcomes governor’s decision

Waya on Thursday directed his secretary general to reinstate Dimo as Wau town mayor, but cancelled the order a few hours after it was announced.

Addressing public rally in Wau yesterday, Waya claimed he was questioned by Wau county communities on why he re-instated Dimo as town mayor.

“I will not and never any more appoint Kamilio [Dimo] in any post in my government, I respect your decision,” the governor told the public rally.

Dimo, however, welcomed the governor’s decision and vowed to respect it.

“ For me am not hungry with the decision, with the move, I will continue to support my community, I will continue to support my governor, my government, I will continue to be a committee member of this state, committee member of south Sudan, committee member citizen of the republic of the Republic south Sudan,” he told Sudan Tribune.

“I was actually called at night by the security that the governor has revoked his decision and that I should not go to the office. I said, it is fine, so it is not a problem [because] the governor has all right to appoint you in his cabinet or not, but I was shocked at night when I heard my name at night in the public announcement saying that the revoke [decision] was announced publicly than using house media to say that Kamilio’s appointment is cancelled,” added the ex-Wau town mayor.

According to Dimo, the community’s reaction may have stemmed from the December 2012 violence, which arose out of the government’s decision to transfer Wau town headquarter from the state to Ngo-Bagari area.

“It was not my own decision, I was implementing the government and the SPLM ruling party’s decision of taking towns to the people,” he stressed.
