Dinka Gogrial students in Uganda support creation of 28 states
January 20, 2016 (JUBA) -Youth members and students in Uganda who hail from the South Sudan’s newly created Gogrial state, curved from Warrap state, said they are ready to cooperate with their new governor, Abraham Gum Makuach, who was appointed by president Salva Kiir in December 2015, in a unilateral decision after creating 28 states.
“Thank president of the Republic of south Sudan for the creation of 28 states and the appointment of Abraham Gum Makuach as the first Governor of Gogrial State. We the youth of Gogrial State must rally behind our Governor and support him in promoting peace, unity and development of our new state,” he said.
Bak said, his groups will work in collaboration with the new governor, claiming the Youths will work alongside with governor Makuach to bring peace and unity among the community.
He said the most priority call is to bring to an end the cattle raiding and intracommunal fighting within the formerly tiny Warrap state, which has been causing insecurity and unlawful act within the state.
Bak urged youth, women group and communities of Gogrial state to support and cooperate with the governor so as to achieve peace, unity and development.
“We need peace and unity to prevail in Gogrial state such that our Governor will be able to concentrate on development issues,” he added.
Nhial Ayok, chairman of Greater Gogrial in Uganda who attended the gathering, said he will strongly support the new governor, calling on youths to work together with him in order to bring development to the people.
“Today we have gathered here to thank our people for the trust they have given for the nomination of Abraham as our first governor. Let [us] unite together for possible ways to chart the way forward for the development of Gogrial state,” he said.
Deng Bona Bang, a student from Juba University has equally urged people to unite and work in support of the new leader.
However, president Kiir’s decision to unilaterally create 28 has been condemned as a violation of a peace agreement he recently signed with opposition factions based on the existing 10 states.
The opposition groups, including the main armed opposition faction of the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM-IO) said they do not recognize Kiir’s 28 states and will implement the peace deal based on the 10 states as provided in the peace document.
