Wau town mayor vows to tackle insecurity

January 25, 2016 (WAU) – The newly-appointed mayor of Wau town council, Akol Akol Ajieth has vowed to prioritise tackling insecurity.

wau_map_afp.jpgAkol said we would ensure residents freely move at night without necessarily worrying about threats of insecurity from wrong elements.

“As my first priority, I will be together with the chiefs of the residential areas so that I get to know one by one what problems do they have in their residential areas, what do they want to be done in these residential areas, this will be my first step toward my work with them,” said Akol.

“The other planning that I have, I want Wau town to be fully secure in team of security, I need peace so that everybody sleep in his house in peace, that is what I want in this area,” he added.

The new mayor, however, appealed to area residents to also contribute maintaining security, by asking their neighbours to help identify criminals.

Hundreds of people welcomed the town mayor upon his arrival into office at the Wau town Municipal council premises. He took oath last Saturday.

Currently comprising of 54 residential areas, the town is divided into five blocks.
