Gbudue state governor appoints executive and legislative leaderships

March 3, 2016 (YAMBIO) – Governor of the newly created Gbudue state, one of three states created from former Western Equatoria state last year, has issued a number of orders appointing advisers, ministers, members of parliament and chairpersons of independent commissions.

The decree No. 08/2016 by governor Major General Patrick Raphael Zamoi, read on Yambio Fm radio on Wednesday evening, appointed John David Sapkio as advisor for political affairs, Awad Kisanga as advisor for security affairs and Mary Romano Yatta as advisor on gender, peace and reconciliation.

Awad Kisanga served before as minister of parliamentary affairs and later on relieved from his position and reappointed as chairperson for civil service commission before Western Equatoria was split into three states on 2 October 2015. Meanwhile Mary Romano has maintained her position as advisor on gender issues for the second time.

The governor also issued another decree number 09/2016 for the appointment of chairpersons of independent commissions in the government of Gbudue state. Tambura Michael Renzi was appointed as chairperson of commerce, trade, industry and investment commission. Richard Gemenze was appointed chairperson of cooperatives and rural development commission and Arkangelo Anisa was appointed as chairperson of land commission.

Based on the republican decree No. 68/2016, dated 19 February 2016, issued by the President of South Sudan, Salva Kiir, governor Zamoi also issued another decree No. 07/2016 on 1 March 2016, appointing members of Gbudue State Legislative Assembly.

The appointment was based on the selected members of the SPLM party list. They include representative from Women list and representative of special needs who used to serve in the former Western Equatoria state legislative assembly before the state was split.
