The event also witnessed the election of a speaker of the assembly.

While opening the assembly, state governor Zamoi urged members of parliament and the executives to work together in order to deliver services to the people of the state.

This time is not critical as other people say, but the best time for the true sons and daughters of the state to deliver service at such times because there is a purpose as why people voted them or appointed by the President of South Sudan, said Zamoi.

He added, “And working together is not a competition but to do what is good for people”.

According to the governor, no one should be blamed for the current instability in the country, and that peace needs collective efforts.

He also appealed to lawmakers to show more presence in the state assembly by deliberating on issues that are affecting the community.

“Members of Parliament should sensitise the community to embark on agriculture to produce enough food,” said Zamoi.

He challenged media to focus on issues that affect people, not playing foreign music.

“The issue of improving security to allow the investors to come for investment purposes which will generate income for the government to do their business and deliver service to the people,” said Zamoi.

He added, “Issuing land is going to be regulated so that government and community can benefit from it”.
