The state information minister, Lam Tungwar blamed the attack on forces loyal to the armed opposition forces allied to ex-vice president, Riek Machar.

“Until now, only the bodies of the dead had been recovered and the wounded, the rest of the passengers are all taken by them [attackers],” Tungwar said in a statement.

The official, on behalf of the state government, strongly condemned the Koch county incident and demanded that the international community to bring the attackers to books.

“The government will not tolerate attacks of the kind any longer and it’s our constitutional right to protect the citizen of the state from any criminal acts committed by any person in the state,” he stressed.

The minister urged peace partners to take note and immediately and act on the attackers by condemning the atrocities being committed by the forces loyal to the SPLA-IO.

“We are for peace and not for war as the state government and warmongers should be control by their commanders as our government does today in Northern Liech state,” he stressed.

The armed opposition faction has not officially reacted to their alleged involvement in the attack.
