Sudan to sign agreement for oil exploration with Pakistan
KHARTOUM, Aug 24, 2004 (SUNA) — An agreement for production sharing for Block (11) for oil will be signed Wednesday between Sudan government, the Pakistani Zafir Company and the Sudanese Sudapet Company.
Block (11) covers North Kordofan State and parts of Nahral-Neil and the Northern States.
An official source at the Ministry of Energy and Mining told SUNA that surveys were conducted in the 1970s by the American Chevron company and then by Sun Oil Company at block (11), which covers an area of 125,480 square kilometers.
He explained that the Pakistani Zafir Company is to have 85% of production and 15% to the Sudanese Sudapet Company
