Sudan’s FM arrives in Kuwait to discuss bilateral ties

April 2, 2016 (KHARTOUM) – Sudan’s foreign minister Ibrahim Ghandour Saturday has arrived in Kuwait upon an invitation from the Kuwaiti Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sabah Al-khalid Al-Sabah.

Foreign ministry spokesperson Ali al-sadiq told the official news agency SUNA that Ghandour would hand over a written letter from President Omer al-Bashir to the Emir of Kuwait Sabah Al-Ahmed Al-Jaber pertaining to promoting bilateral ties between the two nations besides political coordination in a number of regional and international issues.

Al-Sadiq pointed that Sudan’s top diplomat would also meet with Kuwaiti counterpart to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to form a joint political consultations committee.

He added that the two sides would also sign two agreements for mutual visa exemption of diplomatic and special passports holders.

According to al-Sadiq, Ghandour would also meet with the director general of the Kuwait Fund for Economic Development Abdullatif al Hamad, the director general of the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development and the speaker of the Kuwait National Assembly Ali Al-Ghanim.

Following the end of his visit to Kuwait, Ghandour is expected to travel to Ethiopia to discuss ways for promoting bilateral ties besides discussing the file of the Great Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD).
